Breakfast of Champions!

I don’t know about you but it seems that everyone I talk to at the moment is on a healthy eating buzz and I for one am more than happy jump on board.  When I was in first started blogging it was all about healthy eating because that was what I was doing at the time, you may have noticed that has changed lately with the ridiculous amounts of cakes and baking recipes on the website.  That being said I am a big believer in keeping a balance between indulging and having a nice healthy diet.

I’m fairly sure this was one of the very first recipes I ever posted.  It’s an easy one because it’s something I make on a fairly regular basis.  I don’t always serve it in a glass, mainly in a bowl and then I drink it like a soup… yup I’m fairly weird like that!  Whatever way you choose to serve it, it has to be one of the best ways to get a great healthy kick to the start of your day.  You can experiment with the flavours here, strawberries are in season at the moment so by all means use them here, but add a few ice cubes in while your blitzing them to get that authentic smoothie consistency.  I sometimes add a dollop of yogurt or a spoonful of ground seeds for an extra health kick.  If you don’t have apple juice, orange juice will work just as well, don’t be afraid to experiment!
