Swedish summer incoming. Every year without fail Sofie injects us with the scandi summer vibes. I’m often resistant at first, another trip to pack for, but eventually always glad of the freedom, the wild, the fields of barley, the long grass and the forest walks, mushroom hunting, lake swimming and wild long summer days. Since we met, I’ve discovered the love of loppis and antique finds, allsang pa skansan, the utter fear of ticks, discovered the joy of wild blueberries and seen moose drunk on apples and wild deer running wild. Swedish summer hits differently and I’m glad to taste it every year and even more so now our boys get to soak it up with their Swedish cousins and relations. Sitting here with drink in hand after dropping in to a local art exhibition for recently deceased but ever so powerful photographer Elisabeth Ohlson- still digesting her unexpectedly powerful imagery- eating rhubarb and alpine strawberries with vanilla ice cream and awaiting a whole BBQ salmon and a fat slice of princess cake adorned with neon green marzipan and whipped cream. Summer Swedish style- cannot recommend more highly. Unlike anything else in this world. D x
